This tour starts with a visit to Amboseli National Park, which is best known for the large herds of elephants that roam through the park.

The tour ends with a stay in the Masai Mara, which is regarded by many as one of the best safari areas in the world.
Practical details about the tour
This tour has departure from N.Europe every Saturday all year round, for a minimum number of two participants. You will drive in a powerful 4WD safari vehicle, with window seats for everyone. A knowledgeable English speaking guide is naturally also included.

Itinerary
DAY 1: DEPARTURE FROM HOME AIRPORT
Depart from Europe for Kenya, change flight at a major hub if necessary.
We fly exclusively with scheduled flights of a high standard, which include meals, beverages and entertainment on your flight to Africa.
DAY 2: ARRIVAL IN NAIROBI AND DRIVE TO AMBOSELI
Arrive in Nairobi early in the morning. After clearing immigration you will be met by a representative from Safari Eksperten.
You will be driven to our nearby lounge, where it will be possible to change clothes and grab a bite to eat, before you and the rest of the small group of max. 7 persons set off to drive south east to Amboseli National Park, where you will arrive in time for lunch at Amboseli Sopa Lodge, which will be your home for the next two nights.
After lunch you will the chance to relax for a while before going on the tour’s first safari- drive in Amboseli National Park.

DAY 3: SAFARI DRIVE IN AMBOSELI
Today you will have both an early morning and afternoon game drive in Amboseli National Park, which is famous for its beautiful views of Kilimanjaro and the many, easy to spot, elephants, that include some really large specimens with unusually large tusks.
Every day elephants walk form the surrounding woodlands onto the flat plains of Amboseli, where they drink and bathe in the fresh water marshes. Here they mix with the park’s other classic big game animals that include hippos, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, gazelles and giraffes. The spotted hyena is the park’s most common predator, but there are also a couple of prides of lions and a few leopards and cheetahs. The bird life here is very impressive, with more than 400 species of bird recorded in the park, including the beautiful crowned crane, which is one of the most characteristic birds of this part of the world.

DAY 4: DRIVING FROM AMBOSELI TO LAKE NAIVASHA
After breakfast at the lodge you will leave Amboseli and head towards the Rift Valley and the beautiful Lake Naivasha, where you will arrive at around lunch time.
The rest of the day is free to spend as you wish, we warmly recommend booking a boat trip on Lake Naivasha, which will give you a marvellous impression of the rich bird life around the lake and you will also see the many hippopotamus as well as various antelope.

DAY 5: LAKE NAIVASHA - MASAI MARA
After breakfast your safari adventure continues through the Rift Valley to the savannahs of the Masai Mara. You will experience some of Kenya’s many varied landscapes on the drive to the Masai Mara.
The last section of the journey to the lodge where you will spend the night is a long safari-drive in the the Masai Mara reserve.
You will arrive at the Mara Sopa Lodge mid-afternoon, and you will have time for a short rest before you again set off on a late afternoon game drive in the Masai Mara.

DAY 6: GAME DRIVES IN THE MASAI MARA
There are game drives in the morning and afternoon in the Masai Mara.
Additionally it will be possible to visit a Masai village against a small supplement, where you can experience the fascinating Masai culture at first hand.
In the evening there will be dinner and a local dance performance.

DAY 7: MASAI MARA - NAIROBI - DEPARTURE FOR HOME
After breakfast you will embark on your return journey to Nairobi. The drive takes you out of the Masai Mara then later through huge wheat and barley fields to Narok. Next you cross the huge plains on the floor of the Rift Valley before your safari-vehicle make the slow climb up the slopes of the Rift Valley escarpment close to the city of Nairobi.
On arrival in Nairobi you will be taken to the airport for your flight back to Europe.
DAY 8: ARRIVAL HOME
Today you will arrive back at your home airport, typically in the morning.

Amboseli Sopa Lodge lie’s in Africa’s “Hemingway country" with a backdrop of Kilimanjaro and easy access to the national park. The lodge lies in a park-like setting at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. Hidden away property’s gardens are many exotic trees and plants, and numerous species of bird. You can also encounter monkeys, mongooses, squirrels, and duikers. The property occupies 190 acres of Masai land’s Kimana Group Ranch district.

Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge
Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort in Kenya has been built in an area of 180 acres of grasslands and acacia trees. The resort lies at an altitude of 1900 m on the southern shore of the freshwater Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. The lush surroundings often attract giraffe and waterbuck, as well as both vervet- and colobus monkeys. At night hippos form the lake often visit to graze.

Masai Mara Sopa Lodge
Masai Mara Sopa Lodge in Kenya lies at an altitude of 1900 meters on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills and has a unique view over the Oloolaimutia Valley and the eastern part of the expanses of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. All building in the lodge follow the design of traditional African round houses with conical thatched roofs, and fits in beautifully with the surrounding countryside. The property’s 99 rooms, including 12 suites, are divided into two wings on either side of the main public areas. Nairobi
Nairobi is the capital of Kenya, East Africa’s most important business hub and with a population of nearly 4 million inhabitants, amongst the three biggest cities in the region, along with Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The city also has one of the most important airports on the whole continent, and is the main starting point not only for our Kenyan safaris, but also many safaris to neighbouring countries such as Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda, even tours to more southern African destinations such as Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe, have their African starting point in Nairobi’s airport, with its great connections to these countries.

Balloon Safari

THE BIG FIVE
The Big Five is a historic term that comes from big game hunting. It groups together the five animals that were considered to require the most courage and skill to hunt: Elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. The term has been readily adopted by today’s wildlife safaris, on which rifles have been swapped for a camera and animals are only “shot” through a telephoto lens. It is also widely used in the marketing of reserves, camps and lodges, where the “Big Five” can be found, and visitors have a reasonable chance of encountering them.

Amboseli National Park
A number of national parks in southern and south eastern Kenya have, in clear weather, fine views of the snow and ice covered peak of Kilimanjaro, which lies just south of the border to Tanzania. Amboseli is the park most famous for this view, as it is the park that lies closest to the mountain, whose peak is only 40 km away. But the park is also renowned for being home to many easily spotted elephants, amongst which there are a good number of really outstanding individuals with exceptionally large tusks. There are around 1.100 elephants in Amboseli and their behaviour has been studied intensively for more than 40 years by scientific researchers.

Lake Naivasha
In central Kenya, on the floor of the Rift Valley, lies five large lakes. Of these Lake Naivasha is closest to the capital city of Nairobi which is around 90 km to the north west. Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake set in very lush surroundings, and taking a boat trip along its shores is one of the big attractions as it is an absolute paradise for birds, including many water birds and the African fish eagle. The lake is also home to a good population of hippopotamus, which you can approach closely by boat, and along its shoreline you can often see giraffe, buffalo and a number of different species of antelopes and monkeys.

The Masai Mara
Masai Mara and the Serengeti in Tanzania must share the prize for being the most filmed wildlife districts on the whole continent, if not in the whole world. But this is not the only thing they share, they also share a border and more importantly many free roaming animals, of which the great migration of wildebeest and zebra is the most visible. Around July these animals stream into the reserve from the south and fill the savannah’s grasslands with big game animals, and the air with birds of prey. Typically they will leave the Masai Mara again in October, but the precise timing of the migration does vary from year to year, as it depends on where and when the rain fall which allow new, fresh grass to grow.
