The Kenyan Coast

On the beautiful coastline just south of the equator, close to the port-city of Mombasa, especially to the south around the famous Diani Beach and beyond, you can find many attractive beach hotels. This destination could have been created just to give visitors the chance of relaxing on the beach after an eventful safari. But plenty of activities are also available, on the land, at sea and even in the air. Here you can find several golf courses, of which the three 18 hole-courses are of especially high quality, and there are plenty of opportunities to play tennis on great courts.

If you feel need for a bit of city life, Mombasa,  which is Kenya’s second biggest city with a population of over 1 million inhabitants can, for example, offer some great shopping in the old town around Fort Jesus or at one of the co-operatives for local arts and crafts. If you haven’t yet had your fill of life on safari, or haven’t experienced a safari at all, the beautiful little Shimba Hills national park, only 20 km from the coast, can provide a touch of deja-vu or a taste of what a safari is like: here you can see elephant, buffalo, giraffes and a number of antelope and primate species together with a wealth of birds, in its lush, hilly terrain.

The waters of the Indian Oceans offer the chance to enjoy many different sailing tours, big game fishing for some of the ocean’s giants, as well as snorkelling and scuba diving on the coral reef – and no matter why you have put out to sea, you will have a great chance of seeing dolphins swimming around your vessel. If you are interested in something more adrenaline-filled, then a free-fall jump from a light aircraft, as co-called Sky-dive, or just a more normal parachute jump might be just the thing.

The climate on the  Kenyan coast is very similar all year round, but the months of April and May are normally the most rainy. Temperatures are typically highest during January and February and lowest between June and August, but the difference is only a few degrees.

The coast around Mombasa is very easy to get to, as the city’s large airport has many daily connections to Nairobi, as well as good flights to Tanzania and even a few direct connections to Europe and the Middle East. Whether you would enjoy the many activities on offer, or just relax in beautiful, and very comfortable surroundings, Kenya’s wonderful coast with its many excellent hotels will certainly live up to all your expectations.

   •      Enjoy a high standard of service and comfort, while relaxing on white sand on the palm fringed beaches

   •      Plenty of activities on offer - not least those on the warm waters of the Indian Ocean
