North Island

The lodge encompasses all of the privately owned North Island, which is famous for its lush and species rich nature. The island is a small, remote tropical pearl, in the Indian Ocean’s Seychelles archipelago. Here the colours of nature are a palette of beautiful blue, white and green: white coral sand of the beaches, the blue of the ocean and the lush tropical green of the island’s trees. In land on the island, three granite peaks emerge from the tropical forests. The exclusive and simply furnished lodge is the only building on the island, where you find neither roads nor shops.

North Island is also, uniquely, a very ambitious privately managed, local nature conservation and re-establishment project, which has gone far in bringing back the island’s nature, with its native plant and animal life, to its original state. North Island is therefore a reserve for many of the Seychelles threatened birds, animals, trees and plants. Here you will have a wonderful opportunity of studying the islands natural ecosystems.

This island paradise offers a lodge with ten Presidential guest villas, situated along the island’s East Beach, offering direct access to beach and the ocean. Each villa is hidden away and built in harmony with the natural surroundings, offering an undisturbed location with an ocean view. The 450m2 open plan villa, is built on several levels, the handmade interiors feature organic shapes and a sophisticated touch of design. All villas were built here by local, African craftsmen, from local materials. Each villa also has a 17,000 liter pool and a surrounding 200m2 sun deck with direct access to the beach. The unique architecture and furnishings of the villas is the very definition of “barefoot luxury”!

The lodge is founded on the concept of offering a luxurious counterpart to life in today’s busy society. This is why the lodge’s luxurious Presidential villas are built with a floor area of 450m2, which is considered to be the optimal size to evoke a feeling of having a luxurious living space, with enough room to relax and enjoy the island without being disturbed. The idea behind the simple appearance of the villas, is to bring people back to appreciating the meaning of life, renewing the soul, and setting your mind free.
