Ngorongoro Farm House

The Ngorongoro Farm House near Karatu in the Arusha Region of Tanzania has a view over the Oldeani volcano (3216m) and is only 4km from the Lolduare entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The farm house lies on a 500 acre coffee plantation and has been built and furnished in the colonial manner, and is designed to take you back to the style of past times. The property makes an ideal stop on Tanzania’s so- called Northen Circuit safari destinations, and it is a perfect starting point for visiting the crater in the Ngorongoro C.A.. The distance from here to Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park is 38km and 84km respectively.

The lodge has 51rooms: 42 standard rooms, 3 suites and 6 family rooms. All rooms have a bathroom and shower. The suites also have a veranda. The property also has a pool, bar and restaurant.

From the lodge it is possible to organise guided walks in the Ngorongoro C.A., guided tours of the farm, Masai walks and wellness massage. Other possibilities as a walking safari in the forest which adjoins the Oldeani volcano or a tour to nearby Lake Eyasi in the Rift Valley where the small Hadzabe/Hadza tribe still lives as hunter-gatherers. The Datoga people and related tribes also live close to this lake.

The lodge is a 190 km/2.5 hour drive from Arusha, or a 60 min flight to Seronara Airstrip which is 27km from the lodge. It is also 10km from Karatu.
