Ilala Lodge
The Ilala Lodge is a charming boutique hotel on the Zimbabwean side of the Zambezi River, where it is the closest place to stay to perhaps the world’s most impressive waterfalls, the Victoria Falls. The lodge is within easy walking distance of both the Victoria Falls and the center of the small town also called Victoria Falls. The lodge is on the border of the national park, and it it not unusual to see animals such as warthogs or impala, and even occasionally hippos, graving on the hotel lawns.
This small hotel has 34 spacious rooms of various types, all with bathrooms with both a bath tub and a separate shower, spread over the buildings two floors. On the first floor, rooms have access to a balcony offering a great view of the charming surroundings, while those on the ground floor have French windows opening onto the property’s gardens, allowing you to experience the wild visitors that come here to graze at close hand. All rooms have easy access to the lodge’s a la carte restaurant, swimming pool and poolside bar, as well as the activity center where you can arrange excursions and adventure sports in and around Victoria Falls.
Via the hotel’s activity center you can book everything from adrenaline filled bungy jumps and white water rafting on the river Zambezi, to more sedate boat tours, fishing trips and elephant safaris.
