Aberdare Country Club

Aberdare Country Club in Kenya’s central highlands is a forest lodge, built on the slopes of  Mweiga Hill in the Abardare Highlands, which is part of the Great Rift Valley. The property still shows signs of its origins as a private country house, built in the style of an English cottage, and is considered part of Kenya’s cultural heritage. Today it is furnished with all modern conveniences.

Accommodation is provided in rooms in 22 cottages and a standard suite, all with their own bathroom, shower and balcony. All the cottages have spectacular views to the north, over-looking the Solio Game Sanctuary which has both the black and white rhinos. On a clear day one can view the Aberdare ranges to the west and Mount Kenya to the East, while surrounded by herds of wildlife grazing around you in the club’s own animal sanctuary, the 1300 acre reserve, the Aberdare Country Club Game Sanctuary, which has both a rich animal and bird life. The club has both a restaurant and bar.

In the property’s own reserve it is possible to go for riding and walking tours on the forest clad slopes and heathland plateau.  Other activities available include tennis, golf, swimming pool and relaxing in the gardens.

The Country Club is only 18 km from Aberdate National Park, where the sister property The Ark Lodge can be found. The lodge is a 2.5 hour drive from Nairobi.
